At SYOS, we’re building the next generation of autonomous vehicles across air, land and sea.
We’re growing our UK production team and are looking for a Electrical Technician - Aviation to join us in Fareham on an initial 6-month contract.
This is a hands-on role focused on assembling, integrating, testing and troubleshooting avionics and electronic systems across unmanned aircraft, payloads and ground support equipment.
As SYOS continues to expand, there is potential for this role to become permanent.
What You’ll Do
- Assemble, install and integrate avionics, electrical systems, sensors, payloads and wiring harnesses.
- Configure and test flight controllers, autopilots, navigation, telemetry, C3 links and ground control systems.
- Conduct inspections, functional testing, fault-finding, repairs and component replacement.
- Load approved firmware/software and maintain configuration records.
- Manufacture and repair cables, connectors and wiring, including crimping and soldering.
- Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and technical instructions.
- Use test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies and RF test equipment.
- Support payload integration, aircraft rigging, ground testing and pre-delivery checks.
- Maintain accurate build, test, maintenance and defect records.
- Work closely with engineering, operations, suppliers and customers to deliver safe, reliable systems.
What You’ll Bring
- Level 3 technical qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience in avionics, electronics, electrical engineering, aerospace, robotics or a related field.
- Practical experience assembling, testing and troubleshooting electrical/electronic systems.
- Experience with cable manufacture, crimping, connector assembly, soldering and electrical testing.
- Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
- Experience using electronic test equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Strong focus on safety, quality and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Eligibility to obtain and retain any required security clearance.
Desirable
Experience with UAS, flight-control systems, autopilots, telemetry, RF, payload integration or within aviation, defence, space or another safety-critical environment.
