We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Electronics Design Engineer to join our expanding Electronics Components team in the UK.
You will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of robust electronic systems for vision, motion and control of our advanced unmanned aerial and surface vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schematic Capture & PCB Design: Develop detailed schematics and perform multi-layer Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts for critical onboard electronic systems.
- Digital Design: Design and implement digital circuitry for various vehicle subsystems.
- Electronics Assembly & Debugging: Participate in the assembly of electronic prototypes and conduct thorough fault-finding and debugging to ensure system functionality.
- Communication Interfaces: Design and integrate various communication interfaces, including Ethernet, I2C, MIPI CSI2, and other serial communication protocols.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, particularly the software team, to ensure seamless hardware-software integration and system optimization.
- Problem Solving: Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex electronic design and integration challenges.
- Documentation: Create comprehensive design documentation, test plans, and assembly procedures.
What You\’ll Bring:
- A Bachelor\’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of proven professional experience in electronics design and development.
Core Skills:
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g. Eagle, Altium Designer, KiCad, fusion360 etc ).
- Demonstrable experience with multi-layer PCB design.
- Strong understanding of digital electronics design principles.
- Hands-on experience with electronics assembly, testing, fault-finding, and debugging.
- Solid knowledge of common communication interfaces such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles.
- Knowledge of high-power electronics, 3-phase motors, and motor drivers.
- Experience with sensor and camera integration.
- Understanding of mixed-signal circuit design.
- Experience with microcontroller programming (C/C++, Assembly, Python).
- Familiarity with development boards like Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
- Experience with FPGAs and Hardware Description Languages (VHDL or Verilog).
