Electrical Design Engineer – Maritime About SYOS
SYOS is a pioneering company focused on developing industry‑leading utilitarian autonomous vehicles across air, land, and sea. SYOS’ family of utilitarian vehicles are all powered with SYOS’ control system with various advanced computer vision, swarming, and communication systems.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Electrical Design Engineer (USV) to join our expanding team within our USV (Uncrewed Surface Vessel) production facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical architectures for USVs
- Develop wiring harnesses, power distribution networks, and EMC/EMI‑compliant layouts
- Select and qualify electrical components (power supplies, converters, relays, connectors, etc.)
- Collaborate with mechanical and software teams on system integration
- Conduct system‑level testing, fault diagnostics, and sea trials
- Document designs, test plans, and technical reports for regulatory submissions and internal QA
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience in electrical systems design, preferably in marine or robotics
- Proficiency in tools such as DraftSight, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar
- Strong understanding of power electronics, battery management systems, and USV integration
- Experience with low‑voltage power systems (12–48V), DC‑DC converters, and grounding strategies
- Ability to produce schematics, harness drawings, and electrical BOMs
Desirable Skills
- Experience with USV systems or uncrewed platforms
- Familiarity with AS9100 workflows
- Exposure to RF/antenna layout considerations and EMI shielding
- Hands‑on testing experience and familiarity with oscilloscope, multimeter, CAN analyzers, etc.
