Build the Future of Autonomous Systems
SYOS designs and manufactures advanced uncrewed systems across air, land, sea, and subsurface domains. We combine intelligent engineering, AI-driven autonomy, and innovative design to create next-generation vehicles operating in some of the world’s most challenging environments.
About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Production Planner to coordinate and optimise production schedules at our facility. Reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our vessel build programmes progress efficiently, with the right materials, people, equipment and resources available at the right time. Working across Production, Engineering, Procurement, Stores, Commissioning and Sales, you’ll monitor progress, identify potential delays and develop practical solutions to keep production on track.
From hull preparation and fit-out through to final commissioning, sea-trial readiness and customer handover, you’ll help drive schedule adherence, improve workflow efficiency and support reliable, on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and coordinate detailed production schedules covering vessel build, fit-out, commissioning and delivery activities.
- Plan production capacity across assembly, electrical, mechanical and commissioning teams, monitoring workload and labour utilisation.
- Track progress against production schedules, identify risks and delays, and implement recovery plans to minimise disruption.
- Coordinate work orders and manufacturing documentation, working closely with Procurement and Stores to ensure materials and components are available when required.
- Maintain accurate work-in-progress (WIP) visibility, completion forecasts and production reporting, providing regular status updates to management.
- Coordinate internal teams and external resources involved in vessel completion, commissioning, sea-trial readiness and customer handover.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, 5S and workflow optimisation, while promoting quality, safety and on-time delivery.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in production planning, production scheduling or manufacturing operations.
- Understanding of engineering or manufacturing processes, ideally within marine, aerospace, aviation, automotive or engineered-product environments.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems to manage production schedules, work orders, materials or inventory.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to analyse production data and develop accurate forecasts and reports.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing production demands and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate priorities across multiple departments.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach, with a strong commitment to teamwork, customer delivery and continuous improvement.
Desirable Experience and Qualifications
- Experience in marine manufacturing or vessel build programmes.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices.
- Experience using Power BI or other production reporting and visualisation tools.
- An HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations or Supply Chain Management.
