Big ideas. Real-world impact. Global opportunity.

At SYOS Aerospace, we’re not here to do things the way they’ve always been done. We’re building the next generation of autonomous systems across air, land and sea, turning ambitious ideas into technology that works in the real world.

From cutting-edge research, design and advanced engineering in New Zealand to manufacturing scale-up and global delivery from the UK, our teams are turning innovative concepts into operational products used by customers around the world.

This is an opportunity to join SYOS at a pivotal stage of growth and play a key role in shaping how we position ourselves, communicate our capabilities and support our global ambitions

The SYOS way

We’re growing fast, taking on bigger challenges and building technology that matters.

At SYOS, you won’t be sitting on the sidelines. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute, challenge ideas, solve problems and see your work make a real impact.

About the role

As our Marketing & Communications Lead, you’ll shape how SYOS presents itself to customers, partners, industry and the wider market.

This is a strategic but highly hands-on role. You’ll lead our marketing and communications activity, strengthen our brand and market positioning, and translate our technology, capabilities and commercial priorities into clear and compelling stories for the audiences that matter.

Working closely with Commercial, Business Development, Engineering and our leadership team, you’ll deliver activity that supports our priority markets and growth plans. This will span brand and positioning, PR and communications, digital channels, campaigns, events and exhibitions, thought leadership, sales enablement and market intelligence.

You’ll also take ownership of developing our marketing and communications capability as SYOS continues to grow, bringing structure, creativity and focus while being equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves and delivering.

Your key responsibilities

  • Marketing & communications strategy: Develop and execute an integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned with SYOS’ commercial priorities, target markets and growth plans.
  • Brand & market positioning: Own and evolve how SYOS presents its brand, products, capabilities and value proposition, ensuring our positioning is clear, differentiated and consistent across markets and audiences.
  • Communications & PR: Lead external communications, PR and media activity, including company announcements, thought leadership, product and capability communications and executive messaging.
  • Commercial enablement: Partner with Commercial and Business Development to turn growth priorities into targeted marketing activity, campaigns, collateral, capability messaging and sales enablement that support customer engagement and business development.
  • Content & digital: Oversee high-quality, engaging content across SYOS’ website, social media, email and other relevant channels, maintaining consistency in brand, tone and messaging.
  • Events, exhibitions & industry engagement: Own the end-to-end planning, organisation and execution of SYOS participation in priority exhibitions, trade shows, conferences, demonstrations and customer-facing events globally. Manage budgets, suppliers, stand and brand requirements, collateral, logistics, internal coordination and on-the-ground delivery. Work closely with Commercial and Business Development to set clear objectives for each event, align activity with priority markets and opportunities, and ensure effective post-event follow-up and evaluation.
  • Market & competitor intelligence: Monitor priority markets, customer trends, competitor positioning and industry developments, translating insight into recommendations for market positioning, campaigns and go-to-market activity.
  • Campaigns & performance: Develop and deliver targeted campaigns, using performance data to understand what works, optimise activity and inform future investment.
  • Team & partner leadership: Lead, support and develop the marketing and communications team and manage external agencies, creative partners and specialist suppliers where required.
  • Budget & priorities: Manage marketing and communications budgets and resources, making clear choices about where to focus investment to achieve the greatest commercial and brand impact.
  • Building the function: Strengthen our marketing and communications capability as SYOS grows, introducing the tools, processes and approaches needed to support the business.

What you’ll bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • At least five years’ experience in marketing and communications, ideally including leadership or team management responsibility.
  • A proven track record of developing and delivering marketing and communications strategies that support business and commercial objectives.
  • Strong brand and positioning experience, with the ability to turn complex technology and capabilities into clear, compelling messaging.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and channels.
  • Strong digital marketing knowledge, including social media, email, websites and relevant marketing platforms.
  • Experience developing campaigns, content and sales enablement that support customer engagement and business development.
  • Experience taking ownership of events or exhibitions from planning through to delivery, including managing suppliers, budgets, stakeholders, logistics and deadlines.
  • The ability to use market, competitor and performance insight to inform decisions and prioritise activity.
  • Experience managing budgets, external partners and competing priorities.
  • The ability to work effectively with commercial, technical and senior stakeholders.
  • A proactive, organised and adaptable approach, with the confidence to take ownership and deliver in a fast-moving environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience in defence, aerospace, robotics, autonomous systems, advanced engineering, deep technology or another complex B2B technology environment.
  • Experience communicating complex technical products and capabilities to government, industry and business audiences.
  • Experience working in a growing or scaling business where the marketing capability and brand presence are still evolving.
  • Experience supporting international marketing and communications across multiple markets.
  • Experience with PR, media relations, executive communications or thought leadership.

To be eligible for this role, you must be able to meet the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). This includes confirming your identity, legal right to work in the UK, recent employment history and criminal record (unspent convictions only).

The SYOS Mindset

Curious people. Big ideas. No egos. A team that gets things done. We move fast, embrace challenges and believe the best solutions come from great teams.
