Build the Future of Autonomous Systems

SYOS designs and manufactures advanced uncrewed systems across air, land, sea, and subsurface domains. We combine intelligent engineering, AI-driven autonomy, and innovative design to create next-generation vehicles operating in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

About the Role

We’re looking for a practical, hands-on Maintenance Technician to help keep our facilities safe, functional and running smoothly.

You’ll carry out planned and reactive maintenance across our workshops, offices, building infrastructure and external areas. From diagnosing faults and completing minor repairs to coordinating specialist contractors and supporting site improvements, you’ll play an important role in maintaining a professional working environment and minimising disruption to our operations.

Working closely with Production, Engineering and Health and Safety teams, you’ll help ensure facilities issues are resolved promptly, maintenance records are kept up to date, and all work is completed safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, including minor building, plumbing, joinery, decorating and mechanical repairs within your competence.
  • Conduct routine site inspections, identify faults and hazards, prioritise maintenance requests and escalate issues requiring specialist support.
  • Respond to maintenance issues and breakdowns promptly, helping restore service and minimise disruption to site operations.
  • Support statutory inspections and maintain accurate records of maintenance, servicing, defects and remedial actions.
  • Coordinate external contractors and service providers, including site access, inductions, permits and checks on completed work.
  • Maintain maintenance schedules, job logs, asset information and stocks of commonly used spares and consumables.
  • Support workspace changes, equipment installations and site improvement projects while following health, safety, environmental and security requirements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Practical experience in general maintenance, facilities, caretaking or a multi-skilled trade role.
  • Experience diagnosing faults and completing minor repairs safely across a commercial or industrial site.
  • A broad range of hands-on maintenance skills, with sound judgement about when specialist support is required.
  • Confidence using hand tools, portable power tools and relevant access equipment safely.
  • Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently while supporting employees, contractors and operational teams.
  • Accurate record-keeping skills and basic computer proficiency for maintenance requests, schedules and service records.
  • A safety-conscious approach, including following safe systems of work and reporting hazards, incidents and defects promptly.

Desirable Experience and Qualifications

  • A relevant maintenance, building services or trade qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience coordinating contractors and checking the quality of completed work.
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering or another safety-conscious environment.
  • Relevant health and safety training, such as IOSH Working Safely, manual handling or working at height.
  • Additional certifications in electrical work, plumbing, access equipment or first aid.
  • A current UK driving licence.

Why Join SYOS?

Our mission is to extend human capability, protect people, and deliver operational advantage through accessible, scalable, and intelligent autonomous technology.
