Join to apply for the Senior Revenue Accountant role at Synthesia. We are seeking a highly analytical and results‑driven Senior Revenue Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in revenue recognition, contract review, financial analysis, and data management, with a proven ability to analyze complex data sets and communicate insights effectively. This operational and technical role will require collaboration with cross‑functional teams, including legal, sales, and deal desk, to drive accurate financial statements. The hands‑on manager will personally own all revenue related tasks with the ability to train and mentor new team members in the future as the team grows.
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage month‑end and year‑end close activities related to revenue: This includes preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and deferred revenue schedules, along with analyzing revenue trends and performance.
- Ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards: This involves a deep understanding and application of ASC 606/IFRS 15 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers).
- Review and analyze complex sales agreements and contracts: This involves evaluating the revenue implications of proposed contracts and ensuring they comply with company policy and revenue recognition standards.
- Collaborate with other departments: This includes working closely with sales, legal, and deals desk teams to ensure accuracy and resolve revenue‑related issues.
- Assist with external audits: This involves preparing audit schedules and responding to inquiries from external auditors regarding revenue recognition practices.
- Identify and implement process improvements: This includes developing and maintaining desktop procedures for revenue accounting activities and exploring automation solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Responsible for system integrations and reconciliations to ensure data is complete and accurate.
- Partner with other departments on introduction of new products and new products set up in various systems.
- Partner with FPA on revenue forecasting and variance analysis.
- Own and update the company's revenue memo(s) as needed.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., ACA, CPA) is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in revenue, billing, financial analysis, or a related field, preferably within the technology industry with at least 3 years specifically in Revenue Accounting.
- In‑depth knowledge of accounting principles: This includes a deep understanding ASC 606/IFRS 15 including SSP allocations, contract modifications and material rights.
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite, or equivalent platforms.
- Full understanding of Q2C lifecycle with emphasis on sales‑led enterprise contracts and related billing / revenue.
- Customer service orientation and strong communication skills.
We’d be particularly excited if you have:
- Experience with revenue allocation tools (NetSuite ARM, Zuora etc).
- Experience with Salesforce & Workato (or other iPaaS tools).
- Experience with Stripe (reporting and revenue for self‑serve / PLG subscriptions).
- Multi‑Subsidiary, Multi‑Currency environment/experience.
- SaaS industry experience with multiple performance obligations.
