Job Description: Supplier management of Commodity items (OEM parts and accounts), defined as direct project demand for OEM electro/mechanical parts, Plus Cost Centre parts and services, as well as Technical Drawing (Mechanical Parts) and Plastic parts. Supports in planning operations with technical planner in purchasing team to raise and close project and spares WIP as well as importing engineering data into the business’ MRP system for purchasing, production operations. Owns the process from placement to completion of orders from within the approved supplier list. Ensuring the product supply meets the operational build schedule and that product quality, price & performance KPI’s are met.
Day to day liaison with suppliers on relationship & supply issues to conclusion. Track Supplier KPIs and remedial actions with other buyers in the team and the Purchasing Manager. Perform planning activities to enable business operations to run efficiently working alongside the lead planner in the team. Work collaboratively within the team of buyers and planner to support the business growth and operational targets. Liaise with central corporate supply chain to ensure OEM/Drawing parts accounts are being honoured from pricing and lead-time aspects. Manage indirect purchases through the cost centre codes, as well as manage the treatment of parts process for parts manufactured in-house or locally. Manage the procurement of identified categories.
- Negotiate and maintain pricing and lead-time across key accounts and suppliers
- Record and update On-time delivery of parts and Services
- Work with QMM for Non-Conformance resolution
- Identify sourcing opportunities for cost savings
- Placement and Management of Purchase Orders
- Work together with QMM and the Purchasing Manager around Supplier Performance Management
- Monitor and review supplier pricing through the year and review annually with the Purchasing Manager to optimise pricing
- Track and communicate On-time, In full delivery performance
- Regularly conduct competitive bidding exercises (RFQs)
- Support the Supply Chain Manager in tracking and reporting supplier quality and delivery performance
- Manage the process of parts treatment where required between Production and Purchasing
- Raising and Closing down Planning Jobs for Project and Spares
- Supports Supply Chain team members in aspects relating to the purchasing of BO/MA part procurement and in-house manufacturing for operations and the aftersales business units within agreed KPI for supply
- Project and spare parts planning
- Stock planning and optimization
- Production (assembly & machine shop) planning.
Technical Buyer/Planner is expected to work with colleagues throughout the business to achieve the best possible result for Syntegon as a whole.
Qualifications: Minimum 5 years’ experience as a purchasing buyer with knowledge/experience for suppliers of electro-mechanical components and OEM suppliers and parts. Engineering Manufacturing industry background preferred. Ability to apply data analytics (project dates, supplier lead times) to steer buying for parts in a cost effective and timely manner. 5 years minimum MRP/ERP Experience. Team Player Mentality and attitude. Able to build relationships with suppliers and colleagues. Sufficient working knowledge and experience with MS Excel. Positive attitude and enthusiasm that will translate into good internal and external relationships. Problem solving mindset. Ability to communicate across various levels of personnel in the business up to Senior Management and Site Directors.
