Overview
We’re hiring a Field Service Engineer to join a leading UK provider of physical security systems (gates, barriers, blockers, turnstiles). This is a hands-on field role suited to engineers with experience working on larger machinery, agricultural equipment, or PLC-controlled systems, alongside strong mechanical capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, service and repair security systems (gates, barriers, blockers, turnstiles)
- Fault-find across mechanical and basic electrical/PLC systems
- Attend breakdowns and support reactive maintenance
- Participate in on-call rota (1 in 5 → 1 in 6)
- Complete digital job reports and liaise with clients on-site
- Travel regionally with occasional overnight stays
Requirements
- Strong mechanical engineering background (essential)
- Experience with larger machinery / plant / agricultural equipment / PLC-controlled systems
- Basic electrical knowledge (e.g. 3-phase, 24v systems, 18th Edition desirable)
- Full UK driving licence
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors and in confined spaces
- Based within Chelmsford or surrounding areas
- Flexible for travel, overtime and weekends
Mandatory Security & Clearance (Non-Negotiable)
- Right to work in the UK (documentation required)
- 5 years continuous UK residency
- 5 years continuous employment history (fully traceable)
- No criminal convictions
- British passport required
