Overview
Health & Safety Officer – Reading, Hybrid working. Salary 45,000 - 50,000 plus bonus. Hours 07:30 - 16:30, Monday to Friday. Start date ASAP. Syntech Recruitment is supporting a specialist UK manufacturer at a key stage of national expansion. The role leads risk management, compliance and best practice across multiple environments.
Responsibilities
- Health & Safety Leadership
- Implement and maintain internal H S policies and compliance frameworks
- Provide expert advice on H S matters to teams, management and suppliers
- Support environmental management and sustainability initiatives
- Inspection, Risk & Compliance
- Conduct inspections across supplier sites, workshops, and internal facilities
- Lead risk assessments RAMS, COSHH, HAVS, etc. and monitor controls
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, training and investigations
- Perform internal audits and drive improvements in safe working practices
- Incident Management & Accreditation
- Investigate accidents and incidents with full root cause analysis and reporting
- Track and implement corrective actions
- Support ongoing compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and EN 1090
- Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies when required
Requirements
- Essential
- Health & Safety background in manufacturing, engineering or construction
- Knowledge of UK H S legislation including Health & Safety at Work Act, CDM, COSHH, and Building Safety Act
- Supplier or site inspection experience
- NEBOSH General Certificate or working towards
- CSCS card with SMSTS/SSSTS desirable
- Full UK driving licence
- Preferred
- Auditor qualification for ISO 14001 / ISO 45001
- First aid or fire marshal training
- Experience with structural or modular assemblies
- Comfortable working independently across distributed sites
