About the Role
This role provides field-based and facility-based calibration support across the organisation's businesses, ensuring customer equipment is calibrated, verified, and documented safely, accurately, and in accordance with authorised competence, approved procedures, and applicable quality requirements. You will deliver a professional, technically competent service across customer premises and calibration facilities, operating with the autonomy expected at either Technician or Engineer level.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical & Calibration: Perform accurate, traceable calibration, testing, verification, and technical evaluation across authorized measurement disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Temperature, Pressure, Dimensional, Mechanical, Torque, Force, Mass).
- Quality & Compliance: Execute work to approved procedures under ISO/IEC 17025 and UKAS-accredited environments. Maintain measurement traceability, accurately prepare technical worksheets/certificates, and report out-of-tolerance conditions.
- Field Operations: Travel to customer sites to conduct calibrations independently, manage on-site customer relationships, and ensure all equipment and standards are transported and handled safely.
- Safety & Standards: Comply strictly with Health, Safety & Environmental policies, conduct site risk assessments, and maintain company vehicles and field equipment.
- Continuous Improvement: Assist with technical fault finding, method validation, uncertainty reviews, and audit support.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualifications: ONC / HNC / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering, Metrology, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
- Experience: Proven track record in calibration, metrology, or precision engineering. Experience in a field-based service role and working within an ISO/IEC 17025 / UKAS environment is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong understanding of measurement principles, ability to read technical drawings/specifications, and proficiency with calibration management software.
- Licence & Travel: Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK (including occasional overnight stays).
