About the Role
Syntech Recruitment are working with a long standing client who are looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join their engineering team in Basildon. This role is key to designing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes to ensure products are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to troubleshoot issues, optimise workflows, and drive process improvements that reduce waste, improve productivity, and control costs. This is a hands-on role requiring strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and the ability to translate engineering concepts into practical, scalable manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain manufacturing documentation
- Work with ERP/MRP systems to support production planning and control
- Interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T requirements
- Apply knowledge of machining processes and manufacturing specifications
- Work with aerospace materials and surface treatments
- Produce cost and process estimates
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities
- Identify tooling requirements for assembly and inspection
- Support external design teams to improve DFM / DFMA of new products
- Liaise with external design teams to resolve technical product issues
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in manufacturing processes, enabling a high level of independent working
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple tasks
- Broad technical skill set with a practical, problem-solving mindset
- Confident in challenging and improving existing processes
- Demonstrates initiative with a flexible approach to work
- Computer literate
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD software
- Understanding of 4/5-axis CNC machine programming and ISO G-Code
