Hands-on workshop role in a precision engineering environment.
Syntech Recruitment is working with a well-established precision engineering business based near Basingstoke. The company manufactures high-quality machined components and offers a stable, well-run workshop environment with consistent work and long-term prospects.
We are recruiting a Workshop Engineer to act as a reliable all-rounder on the shop floor, supporting machining operations, material preparation, and general manufacturing activities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety and being involved across multiple stages of production.

- Overtime paid at 1.3x basic rate (currently unlimited)
- Monday–Friday working pattern
- Standard hours: 8:00am–4:30pm
- Early Friday finish at 1:00pm when starting at 7:00am Monday–Friday
- 23 days holiday + bank holidays
- Stable, long-term position within an established engineering business

Workshop Engineer Duties
- Cut materials using saws and workshop tools in preparation for CNC machining
- Deburr and finish machined components as required
- Carry out manual turning on a lathe
- Operate CNC milling and turning machines when needed
- Support general workshop and manufacturing activities to maintain production flow
- Maintain a safe, tidy, and organised workshop environment

This role suits a practical, hands-on engineer with broad workshop experience who is comfortable turning their hand to different tasks within a manufacturing environment.
Essential experience
- Previous experience in a workshop or manufacturing role
- Confidence using hand tools, saws, and general workshop equipment
- Experience with manual lathes
- Some CNC operating experience (mills and/or lathes)
- Ability to work from basic engineering drawings
- Reliable, flexible, and willing to support the wider team
