Hours: Monday–Wednesday 7:00am–5:00pm, Thursday 7:00am–4:00pm (4-Day Week)

Are you an experienced Test Engineer with a background in electronics manufacturing? Do you enjoy solving technical problems, developing test solutions, and being the go-to expert within a business?

Syntech Recruitment are working with a well-established and highly respected electronics manufacturing company in Fife, supporting customers across medical, defence, industrial, and space sectors. Due to an internal promotion, they are looking to appoint a Test Engineer who can take ownership of all aspects of test engineering across the site.

This is a genuinely varied and hands-on role where you'll play a key part in supporting production, developing new test solutions, troubleshooting complex issues, and working directly with customers on functional test requirements.

The Role

As Test Engineer, you'll take responsibility for maintaining and developing the company's test capability, supporting a diverse range of electronic products and PCB assemblies.

Your duties will include:

  • Programming and developing ATE, AOI and Flying Probe test systems
  • Creating and optimising test programs and methodologies
  • Supporting new product introduction (NPI) activities from a test engineering perspective
  • Troubleshooting test failures and resolving technical issues
  • Carrying out hardware adjustments and probe changes on Flying Probe equipment
  • Validating test cycle times and supporting quotations
  • Acting as the site expert for test-related issues
  • Supporting production teams and manufacturing engineers with technical challenges

About You

We would like to hear from candidates with:

  • Previous experience as a Test Engineer within an electronics manufacturing or EMS environment
  • Hands-on experience programming and supporting ATE systems
  • Experience with AOI and Flying Probe testing equipment
  • Functional test development experience
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) projects

Desirable Experience

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or technicians
  • Exposure to medical, aerospace, defence or industrial electronics sectors

The Ideal Candidate

  • Practical and hands-on approach to engineering
  • Comfortable working both on the shop floor and in an office environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proactive problem-solver
