Syntech Recruitment are partnering with an established mechanical engineering contractor to recruit experienced Coded Carbon Steel Pipe Welders for immediate start on major industrial projects in Limerick.

Over 30 years delivering large-scale mechanical projects across oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, brewery, pharmaceutical and food process sectors. Work covers large and heavy bore pipework, process pipework installation, tank erection and boiler work across Ireland and the UK for some of the world's largest multinationals.

The role:

  • MMA (stick) welding on carbon steel pipework to coded standards
  • Root, fill and cap passes to radiographic standard in all fixed positions
  • Working from WPS, P&IDs and isometric drawings on process plant and oil & gas projects
  • Pipe joint prep – bevelling, grinding and fit-up
  • Across both the fabrication facility and on-site project locations
  • Visual inspection of welds and NDT support where required
  • Maintaining weld maps, documentation and traceability
  • Working alongside pipefitters and supervisors through installation
  • Full adherence to PTW systems and ISO 9001 / ISO 45001 standards

What you need:

  • 6G all-position capability – fixed pipe, overhead and vertical, essential
  • Active or recently held MMA coding – ASME IX or BS EN ISO 9606-1 – with coded work in the last 12 months
  • Minimum 5 years coded pipe welding on carbon steel systems
  • Proven experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, brewery, pharmaceutical or food process environments
  • Multi-pass welding – root, fill and cap to radiographic standard
  • Able to read isometrics, weld maps and P&IDs independently
  • Comfortable under RT/UT inspection regimes and formal QA systems
  • Familiar with structured site environments – PTW, toolbox talks, daily reporting
  • Willing to work across fab facility and site in Ireland and the UK

Highly desirable:

  • TIG root capability on carbon steel or stainless
  • Heavy bore pipework, boiler systems or tank erection experience
  • ASME B31.3 process piping familiarity
  • CSCS / Safe Pass / relevant site safety card
  • Experience to oil & gas major client standards
