This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly specialised engineering company developing bespoke, cutting-edge electronic systems. Working within a prototype and R&D environment, you’ll be involved in the build of high-specification wiring assemblies and play an important part in supporting both Engineering and Production teams. Key Responsibilities
- Building prototype wiring looms, harnesses, and cable assemblies
- Routing, wiring, and terminating D-sub (D-type) connectors
- Soldering, crimping, and carrying out detailed bench assembly work
- Assembling electro-mechanical products from engineering drawings and schematics
- Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, BOMs, and technical drawings
- Supporting new product development and engineering change activities
- Carrying out modifications, rework, and updates during prototype stages
- Performing basic inspection and electrical checks, including continuity testing
- Working closely with engineers to resolve build issues and improve assembly processes
- Following technical instructions, build documentation, and test procedures
What They’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in wiring, cable assembly, or electro-mechanical assembly
- Ability to read and understand schematic and wiring diagrams
- Experience wiring and terminating D-sub (D-type) connectors
- Strong soldering and crimping skills
- Excellent attention to detail and quality standards
- Good practical bench assembly skills
Desirable Experience
- IPC-A-610 and/or IPC-A-620 certification or experience
- Experience working in a prototype, R&D, or low-volume manufacturing environment
- Basic electrical testing experience using multimeters or continuity testing equipment
- Mechanical assembly experience
