We are seeking Surface Mount Technicians / operators to join a precision electronics manufacturing team based in Andover. As an SMT Technician, you will be a key member of the PCBA production team, responsible for operating and maintaining automated SMT lines. You will ensure the precise assembly of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), contributing directly to high-performance electronic assemblies used in critical sectors such as Aerospace, Medical, Defence, and Automotive.

  • 1x Early Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Line Operation & Setup: Perform basic equipment maintenance, component loading, and SMT line setup to ensure smooth production runs.
  • Quality Inspection: Perform thorough visual inspections before and after the reflow soldering process using microscopes and inspection tools.
  • Technical Compliance: Correctly interpret and follow build documentation, parts lists, and assembly drawings.
  • Process Monitoring: Monitor production output, ensuring components are placed correctly and defects are identified early.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of production data, yields, and quality checks.
  • Team Support: Support new team members, promote best practices in the SMT area, and maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace.

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing, production, or automated machinery environment.
  • Familiarity with SMT equipment, such as pick & place machines, reflow ovens, or inspection tools.
  • Experience with component identification, hand tools, or using microscopes for inspection.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow precise technical instructions.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

The Package

  • Hourly Rate: £12.83 per hour, automatically increasing to £13.21 per hour after successful completion of a 6-month training and probation period.
  • Shift Premium: Twilight shift positions receive an additional 15% annual shift allowance.
  • Work-Life Balance: The Twilight shift offers a condensed 4-day working week (Monday – Thursday).
  • Interview Process: Simple 1-stage process including an onsite interview and a full tour of the facility.
