AI Native Systems Engineer needed for a 6 Month Rolling Contract based in London (Hybrid). Start ASAP ideally September 2026.
Hybrid Working – 2-3 days/week remote (WFH) + 2-3 days/week working from the office in London. Paying up to £500/day (Outside IR35).
Working with a global IT Consultancy supporting the client's transition towards delivery models utilising AI agents to streamline systems software + operations:
- AI Native Systems Engineer is a technical leadership role designing AI-enabled, complex cloud-native + data-intensive systems that support Network Operations across RAN, data + automation domains.
- Owning the system engineering discipline, translating business problems into robust technical designs + ensuring AI-assisted delivery remains governed, secure + outcome-focused.
- Owning complex technical designs from early problem framing through to release + operational support.
- A 'hands-on' role responsible for technical outcomes from concept to production.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted engineering tools + coding agents to improve software delivery, testing + documentation.
- Experience of AI-assisted engineering tools and how to validate, govern and improve AI-generated engineering artefacts.
- Experience in designing complex software systems, distributed systems, data platforms + cloud-native services.
- Architecture and design leadership: ability to set technical direction, resolve complex design trade-offs + guide software engineering teams.
- Strong experience of algorithms, data structures, concurrency, operating systems, networking, APIs, integration patterns + performance trade-offs.
- AWS Cloud computing platforms, including architecture patterns, security, observability + deployment.
- Strong background in Software Architecture, systems engineering, distributed systems or complex cloud-native platform delivery.
- Programming languages: Go, Rust, C/C++, Java, Python.
- Desirables: AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification, Telecoms, AIOps, Network Ops, RAN/Core Analytics, Data Engineering, anomaly detection, RCA, lakehouse/agent orchestration patterns
