Company Description
Synpath AI builds an AI workforce for manufacturing operations, providing specialized agents that take on repetitive tasks for planners, estimators, and production teams.
These agents manage RFQ estimating, production planning, urgent order checks, material delay responses, and operational coordination around the clock.
Synpath AI integrates directly with existing ERPs, emails, spreadsheets, and documents, avoiding new portals or complex configuration and working like digital colleagues.
The platform autonomously reads requests, checks constraints, compares historical jobs, identifies affected orders, recommends actions, and updates workflows, with human approval where needed.
This enables manufacturing teams to quote faster, plan more intelligently, respond to disruptions earlier, and focus on higher-value decisions that require human judgment.
Role Description
As a Lead Engineer at Synpath AI, you will own the technical design and delivery of core platform features that power our manufacturing AI agents.
You will lead a small engineering team, set technical direction, review code, and ensure high-quality, reliable systems that integrate with customer ERPs, email, and data sources.
Day-to-day, you will collaborate with product and customer teams to understand operational workflows, translate them into robust architectures, and ship secure, scalable services and APIs.
You will mentor engineers, improve engineering practices, and drive automation, observability, and performance across the stack.
This is a full-time hybrid role based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility to work from home part of the week.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in backend software engineering, including designing and building scalable services, APIs, and data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with modern programming languages (such as Python, Type Script, or Go) and cloud infrastructure (such as AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Background in data-centric systems, including integrating with third-party tools (ERP, email, spreadsheets, document stores) and handling complex workflows.
- Proven ability to lead engineering projects, mentor team members, and establish best practices in testing, code review, and deployment.
- Comfort working with AI- or ML-powered products, collaborating with data and ML specialists to bring models into production (experience with LLMs is a plus).
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work closely with product, operations, and customers.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial software, or operations tooling is beneficial but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
