The Role: As a Principal Systems Engineer at Synoptix focusing on Systems Architecture, you will be helping guide the scope and direction of the engineering projects you are working on. You will work alongside Capability Leads to help lead the charge and drive the Systems Engineering capability into the future. Within Synoptix, you will be a mentor to early careers, providing coaching, guidance and support, while promoting Digital Engineering best practices across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a passion and drive to become a technical expert in their specialism.

As an agile business in the true sense the principal engineer will be given the relative freedom to take ownership at the strategic level of the project. This involves talking to the external stakeholders at a high level within the customer organization and feeding back to the business within engineering management meetings etc.

Day to day tasking can include:

  • Delivering technical expertise on a variety of customer projects from air to sub-surface
  • Supporting Systems Engineering activity across the design lifecycle
  • Development of proposals and statements of work
  • Engaging with customer representatives to identify opportunities, and seeing them through to delivery
  • Attending Synoptix internal management strategy meetings
  • Guiding junior engineers in project delivery, where needed
