Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist in City of Westminster

If you're in a Senior BMS role and are looking to focus a good proportion of your time to the development of others within Tissue Sciences one of these posts will be for you.

You'll join an expanding Tissue Science service, and whilst undertaking technical duties, you'll also have a remit to bring junior scientists through their portfolios, and more experienced scientists through their Specialist portfolios.

This might be an opportunity for you if you're looking for your first Senior role, bringing with you demonstrable management and training skills.

The more people through and bench ready, the more you'll be able to focus your time on this important aspect of your duties, as the department grows.

Main duties of the job

Aside from the technical duties, which you will know, and are detailed below, your core mission here is to build stability into the service.

This may stretch you, but the advantage is you having time to focus on the development of others, benefiting you by developing your network across the organisation, working with other teams such as the Apprenticeships & Scientific Development Team.

You'll be invested in others, supporting people through IBMS Registration and Specialist Portfolios, spotting skills gaps and closing them with the support of Operations Management.

You'll be providing leadership capabilities and a level of expertise to the Tissue Science service and may have opportunities to work in specialist fields within the discipline.

The centrally located Hub laboratory processes over 100,000 surgical cases per year, making it one of the largest Histopathology laboratories in the country. We provide Routine Histology as well as Advanced Diagnostics services. In the newly created Hub, we provide efficient diagnostic tests using state of the art laboratory equipment including digital pathology.
