To support the development and implementation of a global lab footprint strategy to optimize the distribution of genetics laboratories and testing sites across regions. Identify and support the consolidation, expansion, and relocation opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery.
To support CAPEX related to laboratory projects infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business growth and regulatory requirements. To support the standardization of lab processes across all regions to enhance operational performance and cost efficiency. To support the design, construction, and maintenance of state-of-the-art laboratories to support evolving diagnostic capabilities. Ensure compliance with industry standards (ISO 15189, ISO 17025, GMP, etc.) for laboratory design and operations. Ensure compliance with CE-IVDR regulation. Implement automation & digitalization in lab processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with IT & Digital teams to integrate Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and other smart lab technologies.
Operational Excellence & Cost Optimization
Implement Lean Six Sigma principles to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance turnaround times. Benchmark and develop operational KPIs across labs to identify areas for continuous improvement and standardization across labs. Advise on the optimization of resource utilization to reduce operational costs without compromising quality and compliance. Support and actively participate in the modelling and adaptation of Genetics Target Operating Models, at lab level, country level, International network and working with cross-functional teams. Be the projects liaison between 3L team and the medical, Group and country communities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
- Mandatory master or PhD in Genetics.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in genetics laboratory operations, engineering within diagnostics, healthcare, or life sciences.
- Deep knowledge of lab workflows, regulatory requirements, and automation technologies.
- Experience in facility planning, CAPEX investments, and lab engineering projects.
- Proven ability to work under cross-functional environment & international teams.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and process improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) and automation trends in lab operations.
Location: UK or Germany
Languages: Fluent in English. Desirable: German and/or Italian.
Travel needed: yes, more than 50%.
