Synima is a global creative video agency making award winning video and animation for some of the world's biggest brands in healthcare, finance and technology. From our studios in New York, London, Los Angeles and Amsterdam, we take work from strategy to final delivery. Our in house and on location crews cover high end 3D and 2D animation, cinematic live action and full generative AI production.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Freelance Producer/Director to join our growing creative team. This is a dual role: you will produce projects end to end, and you will direct them on set. That means you are as comfortable building a budget and a schedule as you are standing on set calling the shots, putting a nervous contributor at ease before an interview, and directing talent to get a performance that serves the story. You will take briefs from concept to final delivery across live action, animation and AI production, for a client list spanning global brands in technology, healthcare and financial services. If you are equally happy writing a shot list at your desk and running the floor on a busy shoot day, this role is for you.
What you will do
- Lead video and animation projects from concept to completion, owning both the creative and the commercial outcome.
- Direct on set, working with talent, presenters and first time contributors, and leading interviews from question guide to final soundbite.
- Develop the creative: concepts, storytelling, script interpretation, storyboards, visual treatments and shot lists.
- Own the full production lifecycle, from pre production planning through on set direction to post production oversight across edit, motion graphics and sound design.
- Brief editors, animators and designers with clarity, and give the edit direction that gets the cut where it needs to be.
- Manage budgets, schedules, resourcing and risk across several live projects at once.
- Present ideas, absorb feedback and build long term relationships with stakeholders at every level, up to C suite.
What you will bring
- 10+ years in video production within an agency, production company or in house team.
- A directing reel showing interview led and narrative work you personally directed.
- Proven on set directing experience with both talent and non professional contributors, and confident interview technique.
- Strong technical awareness of camera, lighting, sound and the practical realities of a shoot day.
- A solid grasp of contemporary production workflows and digital delivery formats for global brand campaigns, across both live action and animation.
- Experience with AI assisted production workflows for generative video, voice, localisation and previsualisation.
- A proven track record in project and client management, and the ability to scope and quote accurately.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and the judgement to know when to push back and when to flex.
- An organised, proactive mindset, and the calm to solve problems on the day.
- Availability to travel to shoots and client meetings in the UK, with occasional international travel, and the right to work in the UK.
