We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health, Safety, Environment & Security (HSES) Manager to lead HSE at our Huddersfield site. Leading a highly skilled team (5-10 direct, plus ~20 indirect reports), you will provide expert leadership to ensure full compliance with UK regulations, Syngenta standards, and the site Top Tier COMAH obligations, while enabling effective operational capability. This is a pivotal role for someone passionate about protecting people, ensuring product integrity, and driving sustainable operations.
Accountabilities
- Lead and continuously improve the site’s HSE Management System.
- Provide expert compliance advice on UK regulations, Syngenta standards, and COMAH Regulations.
- Ensure relevant systems meet regulatory and production requirements.
- Manage emergency response readiness and capability.
- Manage Site Security.
- Oversee and develop the Duty Manager team to deliver safe, effective shift operations.
- Build strong relationships with regulators, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Your leadership will drive continuous improvement, meet performance targets, and maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (science, engineering, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
- Comprehensive experience in the chemical industry.
- Proven line management and leadership skills.
- Strong track record in HSE and quality compliance.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across all organisational levels.
- Ability to lead high-performing, motivated teams in complex environments.

These products help our growers to meet the ever-increasing demand for food, feed and fuel, and our talented & dedicated teams make this possible.
