Job Description
We\’re seeking an experienced Principal Scientist to join our Separation Science team at Jealott\’s Hill International Research Centre (UK). You\’ll drive the expansion of our preparative chromatography platform within the chemistry department, focusing on small molecule purification and isolation at milligram to gram scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality preparative isolations and purifications of small molecules
- Lead and develop chromatography methods for complex purifications
- Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support to the team
- Collaborate across functions (Biologicals, Process Technology and Engineering)
- Document procedures in electronic lab notebooks and capture FAIR data
- Mentor team members and contribute to the wider Separations network
- Drive innovation in purification technologies and workflows
- Support purifications from the output of high-throughput chemistry platforms
What are we looking for?
- Degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry
- Proven industry experience in purification
- Expert knowledge of preparative HPLC-MS
- Hardware troubleshooting capabilities
- Strong analytical data interpretation skills
- Collaborative mindset and excellent communication abilities
- Innovation-driven approach to problem-solving
- Experience supporting high-throughput chemistry platforms is desirable
- Experience of using SFC is desirable

Jealott\’s Hill International Research Centre UK is situated in pleasant semi-rural surroundings between Bracknell and Maidenhead and is the place of work for approximately 800 Syngenta scientists and support staff.
