At Syngenta's Grangemouth site, our Process Technology team works at the heart of active ingredient manufacturing and we’re looking for a Process Chemist Specialist to help us make those processes safer, leaner, and more robust.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute experiments to improve the safety, cost, environmental impact, and robustness of manufacturing processes.
  • Support manufacturing plants by resolving day-to-day chemistry issues.
  • Apply your understanding of organic and physical‑organic chemistry to analyze complex problems and implement solutions at scale.
  • Plan and lead focused programmes of practical work, record results, and share findings across functions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in operations, engineering, and beyond to translate lab insights into manufacturing improvements.
  • Coach and support others to develop their practical and theoretical chemistry skills.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Chemistry with hands‑on experience in process development, fine chemical, pharmaceutical, or agrochemical manufacturing.
  • Skilled across a wide range of practical techniques - including air/moisture sensitive chemistry, distillations, crystallisations, and in‑process monitoring.
  • Strong theoretical grounding in organic and physical‑organic chemistry.
  • Ability to risk‑assess your own work and develop creative, evidence‑based solutions.
  • Clear communicator with a track record of influencing peers and senior stakeholders.
  • A PhD in Chemistry is a plus, as is experience with process scale‑up, HPLC/GC method development, or statistical analysis tools.
