Job Description

Syngenta is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our innovative manufacturing team.

You'll play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our plant's mechanical systems.

This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.

You'll collaborate with various teams to ensure safe, reliable operations and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll be doing

  • Follow and implement Safe Systems of Work, maintaining the highest HSEQ standards.
  • Deliver first-line maintenance across the site's plants and mechanical systems.
  • Complete planned and preventative maintenance routines.
  • Use problem-solving tools and techniques to accurately diagnose faults and defects.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to coordinate and execute work effectively, minimising downtime.
  • Identify and implement reliability improvements, communicating feedback on changes.
  • Develop and use Engineering Guides, check sheets, and Routine Maintenance Documents.
  • Maintain accurate CMMS records, including Bills of Materials, technical reports, and time bookings.

Qualifications

  • Relevant apprenticeship with at least 3 years' hands-on experience, or a craft qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ) or HNC.
  • Understanding of HSEQ standards and safe systems of work on a Top Tier COMAH site.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering systems, equipment, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems (SAP preferred) and good computer literacy.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, with a proactive, team-focused mindset.
