Job Description
At Syngenta, we're committed to developing sustainable agricultural solutions through world-class science. Our Product Safety team at Jealott's Hill is seeking a Head of Science Strategy Europe. This senior leadership role shapes the science strategies that underpin crop protection product development, regulatory advocacy, and long-term competitive positioning across the European region.
Accountabilities:
- Develop innovative science strategies and capabilities that solve current challenges and anticipate future regulatory and sustainability needs
- Lead Syngenta's external advocacy through regional technical associations, providing industry leadership on strategic science issues
- Proactively manage the Science Strategy portfolio of projects in Europe, ensuring delivery against advocacy and business ambitions
- Provide technical leadership internally and externally, driving connected knowledge transfer across the organization and collaboration with key stakeholders
- Develop talent within the team, ensuring succession plans and individual development plans are in place
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in a scientific discipline relevant to Product Safety with substantial postgraduate experience
- Strong experience in a Product Safety or Regulatory background
- Proven leadership of expert scientific teams including team leads and senior technical staff
- Extensive knowledge of the European techno-regulatory environment and crop protection risk assessment frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to influence and advocate with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Strong track record managing complexity, ambiguity, and business-critical issues collaboratively
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in external scientific advisory bodies or industry trade associations
- Background working across multi-disciplinary teams including regulatory affairs, commercial, and R&D
- Track record of leading people
- Proven ability to utilize and deploy digital skills

Jealott's Hill International Research Centre UK is situated in pleasant semi-rural surroundings between Bracknell and Maidenhead and is the place of work for approximately 800 Syngenta scientists and support staff. Jealott’s Hill is one of the main global research and development sites and key activities include research into discovery of new active ingredients, new formulation technologies, product safety and technical support of our product range.
