Job Description

At Syngenta, we help farmers grow productively while protecting the planet. Our Product Safety team at Jealott's Hill is seeking a Genetic Toxicologist to join a world-class scientific community. This is an opportunity to apply — and actively develop — your expertise in a role that directly supports the invention and registration of sustainable crop protection solutions.

Accountabilities

  • Design, manage, and interpret genetic toxicology studies at contract research organisations, delivering high-quality data to support active ingredient development and registration.
  • Analyse complex datasets and present findings, interpretations, and recommendations to expert and non-expert stakeholders.
  • Contribute specialist expertise across Product Safety and multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Support scientific advocacy and foresight on emerging regulatory and toxicological issues.
  • Explore new approach methods (NAMs) and technical strategies to advance the science.

Qualifications

Required
  • Degree in life sciences, biology, biomedicine, chemistry, or a related field — PhD preferred.
  • Genuine interest in developing expertise in genetic toxicology.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience applying complex data to decision making.
  • Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to rapidly acquire new knowledge and work with high attention to detail.
Desired
  • Experience or knowledge of genetic toxicology, error-corrected next generation sequencing (ecNGS), or new approach methods.
  • Track record of external scientific engagement such as publications, conferences, or regulatory contributions.

Jealott's Hill International Research Centre UK is situated in pleasant semi-rural surroundings between Bracknell and Maidenhead and is the place of work for approximately 800 Syngenta scientists and support staff. Jealott’s Hill is one of the main global research and development sites and key activities include research into discovery of new active ingredients, new formulation technologies, product safety and technical support of our product range.
