Synergy Plus Recruitment is supporting a nationally recognised law firm in their search for an experienced Criminal Defence Solicitor to join their Specialist Criminal Law Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Criminal Defence Solicitor to join a respected firm handling complex and high-profile criminal matters, with a strong focus on serious crime and white-collar crime.

You will act as a Criminal Defence Solicitor managing a varied caseload of private criminal defence matters, providing strategic advice and representation from investigation through to conclusion. The role offers exposure to high-quality work, strong partner access, and a supportive team environment with genuine career progression.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work as a Criminal Defence Solicitor within a specialist criminal law team
  • Manage a varied caseload including serious and complex criminal matters
  • Handle cases involving:
  • Fraud (SFO / HMRC / FCA)
  • Sexual offences
  • POCA and confiscation proceedings
  • Regulatory prosecutions (HSE, Trading Standards, etc.)
  • Provide clear legal advice and strong client representation throughout proceedings
  • Attend police stations, courts, and client meetings as required
  • Work collaboratively with solicitors and consultant lawyers within the team
  • For senior candidates, manage and develop a client following where applicable
  • Requirements:
    • 7+ PQE preferred (5-10 PQE considered depending on experience)
    • Strong background in criminal defence (private or mixed practice)
    • Experience handling serious and complex criminal cases
    • Confident in client-facing and court environments
    • Strong case management and independent working ability
    • Advocacy experience desirable
