About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our state-of-the-art automated cold storage facility. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance at heights of up to 120ft and in temperatures as low as -23C. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer experienced in FMCG, automation, or warehouse engineering to join a cutting-edge operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate critical automated systems including conveyors, cranes, cooling systems, and oxygen reduction systems.
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime.
- Work to operational KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and maintenance plans to ensure full compliance.
- Liaise with suppliers, manage warranty work, and coordinate service visits.
- Support warehouse operations to maintain efficient logistics and equipment performance.
- Manage engineering stock, spare parts, and inventory control.
- Produce clear and timely engineering reports for the Engineering Manager.
- Identify and implement energy-saving, cost-efficient improvements across the facility.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 in Multi-Skilled Engineering or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Apprentice-trained engineering background
- Experience within an FMCG automated warehouse, distribution centre, or industrial engineering environment
Desirable:
- Cold store, freezer warehouse, or ammonia refrigeration plant experience
- Experience working at heights
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills in automated systems
