Since 2004, we've built our reputation on delivering complex programmes safely, efficiently and to the highest standards - with expertise spanning planned maintenance, refurbishment, external wall remediation and energy efficiency improvements.

Being part of GHG means combining the agility and close-knit culture of a specialist contractor with the stability, investment and long-term opportunities of a larger organisation delivering projects across the UK.

As our business continues to grow, we're looking for skilled tradespeople who take pride in their work and want to contribute to delivering high-quality maintenance services to our clients and their residents.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Electrician to join our team in Oxfordshire, supporting the delivery of electrical maintenance, repairs and installation works across Service Family Accommodation (SFA) properties under our VIVO MOD Housing contract.

Working across occupied and vacant residential properties, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive electrical works, ensuring all installations and repairs are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with current regulations and client requirements.

The role will involve fault finding, electrical repairs, testing and inspection, and minor installation works. You will work closely with our operational teams, planners and other trades to ensure jobs are completed to a high standard, within agreed timescales and with minimal disruption to residents.

As a representative of Synergize, you'll be expected to deliver a professional and customer-focused service, maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and communication throughout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance, repairs and installations across MOD residential properties.
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical faults, ensuring safe and effective repairs.
  • Undertake electrical testing and inspection, including Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), where appropriately qualified.
  • Complete remedial works identified through electrical inspections and compliance programmes.
  • Install, repair and replace electrical accessories, lighting, consumer units, circuits and associated equipment.
  • Carry out electrical works associated with void property refurbishments, planned maintenance and responsive repairs.
  • Ensure all electrical works comply with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), relevant Building Regulations and applicable health and safety legislation.
  • Complete electrical certification, job reports and associated compliance documentation accurately and within required timescales.
  • Identify and report additional defects, safety concerns or works required beyond the original job specification.
  • Work collaboratively with planners, supervisors and other trades to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used and any outstanding actions through company systems.
  • Ensure all works are completed in accordance with risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment and vehicles in a safe and professional condition.
  • Deliver excellent customer service when working in occupied homes, treating residents and their properties with care and respect.
  • Support the delivery of contractual KPIs, including job completion times, first-time fix rates and customer satisfaction.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement across the contract.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll be a qualified and experienced Electrician with a strong background in domestic electrical maintenance and repairs. You'll be comfortable working independently across multiple properties, managing your workload effectively and maintaining high standards of workmanship. Just as importantly, you'll understand the importance of providing a professional and respectful service when working in people's homes.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent recognised electrical qualification.
  • City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) qualification.
  • Proven experience carrying out domestic electrical maintenance, repairs and fault finding.
  • Strong working knowledge of BS 7671 and relevant electrical safety regulations.
  • Experience working in occupied residential properties or similar environments.
  • Ability to diagnose electrical faults and undertake repairs independently.
  • Competence in electrical testing, safe isolation and completion of relevant documentation.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements, including risk assessments and safe working practices.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a mobile workload.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom.

Desirable

  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification or equivalent.
  • ECS Gold Card.
  • Experience delivering electrical maintenance within social housing, MOD accommodation or other large residential maintenance contracts.
  • Previous experience working on planned and reactive maintenance contracts.
  • Experience using mobile job management and reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of void property maintenance and refurbishment programmes.
