Solution Architect β Cyber Security (Pre-Sales & Bid Support)
This role is for a leading SI and focuses on pre-sales and bid support for cyber security solutions. It is a highly client-facing position, working with sales teams to shape, design, and position winning cyber security offerings. The candidate should combine deep technical expertise in cyber security with strong commercial acumen, proposal writing skills, and the ability to clearly articulate value to clients.
This role is central to business growth, ensuring cyber security solutions are credible, competitive, and aligned with client needs throughout the RFP and sales lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the cyber security solution lead in pre-sales activities, partnering with sales and bid teams.
- Own solutioning, technical narratives, and RFP/RFI/tender responses, ensuring content is compelling, accurate, and tailored to client needs.
- Work with sales teams to define win themes and position security offerings to maximize competitive advantage.
- Contribute to pricing models, solution designs, and proposal collateral that balance innovation with commercial viability.
- Present and defend solution designs during client workshops, bid presentations, and executive briefings.
Solutioning & Architecture
- Design secure, scalable, and cost-effective cyber security solutions covering areas such as network security, identity and access management, cloud security, endpoint protection, and SOC/SIEM operations.
- Translate client business and technical requirements into end-to-end architectures aligned with compliance standards (ISO 27001, NIST, Cyber Essentials Plus, GDPR, PCI DSS).
- Ensure proposed solutions are practical, deliverable, and differentiated within competitive bid scenarios.
- Develop reusable solution artefacts, templates, and standard responses for future bids.
Collaboration with Sales Teams
- Work with sales and account teams to shape opportunities from early engagement through to contract award.
- Provide subject matter expertise and thought leadership on security trends, risks, and technologies to support the sales cycle.
- Identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling security services and help develop account strategies.
Client Engagement
- Act as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders, explaining complex security concepts in clear, business-focused language.
- Run discovery workshops, technical solution walkthroughs, and client Q&A sessions during bids.
- Build credibility with C-level and technical audiences by aligning security solutions with business drivers.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in pre-sales, solutioning, and bid support within cyber security, IT services, or consulting.
- Strong background in RFP/RFI response writing, solution narratives, and bid presentations.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical integrity with competitive pricing.
- Experience working with sales teams to develop go-to-market strategies and proposals.
Cyber Security Expertise
- Broad technical knowledge across multiple cyber domains: infrastructure, applications, cloud, network, identity, and SOC/SIEM.
- Experience designing solutions incorporating technologies from leading vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Palo Alto, Cisco, AWS, Azure, Splunk).
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance standards (ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, Cyber Essentials Plus, PCI DSS).
- Understanding of cyber risk management and governance principles.
Soft Skills
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive proposal content.
- Strong presentation and client engagement skills, comfortable in executive-level discussions.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced bid cycles, working to tight deadlines and managing competing priorities.

Qualifications & Clearances
- Bachelor\βs degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Must hold active SC Clearance (or be eligible to obtain it).
