We are currently recruiting for an experienced Programme Manager to lead the delivery of large-scale technology transformation initiatives within a complex enterprise environment. This role will focus on the modernisation of legacy core platforms and transition to cloud-based architectures, requiring strong leadership across both technical and business domains. The successful candidate will oversee complex programmes involving legacy systems, distributed platforms, and cloud technologies while ensuring delivery within highly regulated environments.
This is a senior leadership position, requiring an individual with the presence, confidence and delivery expertise to manage complex stakeholder environments and guide organisations through large-scale change.
Note: this is a hybrid role. Mostly working from home with travel once per week to Norwich.
Role Overview
The Programme Manager will take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of complex transformation programmes involving legacy core platforms, enterprise applications and modern cloud services. These initiatives will require careful orchestration across engineering teams, architecture, business stakeholders and third-party vendors.
The role demands a strong programme leader capable of navigating competing priorities, managing delivery risk, and maintaining executive stakeholder confidence throughout large-scale system transitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of complex enterprise transformation programmes involving legacy platform modernisation and cloud adoption.
- Manage programmes involving mainframe and legacy application estates transitioning to modern cloud or hybrid architectures.
- Provide strong programme governance including planning, reporting, RAID management, financial oversight and delivery milestones.
- Coordinate across engineering teams, architecture functions, cloud/platform teams, and business stakeholders.
- Manage complex system dependencies, integrations, and data migration activities.
- Define and manage programme roadmaps, delivery strategies and transition plans.
- Lead planning for system cutover, parallel running, migration and operational readiness.
- Maintain clear communication with senior leadership, technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Ensure programmes operate within regulatory, security and operational risk frameworks.
- Manage programme risks and delivery challenges, ensuring proactive mitigation and escalation when required.
- Provide leadership across multi-disciplinary teams including delivery managers, technical leads and business stakeholders.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering large-scale enterprise transformation programmes.
- Strong Programme Management leadership experience within complex organisations.
- Demonstrated experience managing legacy platform modernisation initiatives.
- Experience delivering mainframe or legacy system transitions to cloud or hybrid architectures.
- Ability to lead programmes involving complex technical landscapes and enterprise integrations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and technical teams.
- Experience managing large cross-functional delivery teams and vendors.
