We are looking for an experienced Information Protection & Data Classification Consultant to support an existing Fortra data classification environment within a secure enterprise environment.
The role is focused on the ongoing management, optimisation and troubleshooting of the existing Fortra solution, resolving issues and ensuring the platform continues to operate effectively.
Alongside the Fortra responsibilities, you will also support wider data classification activities, helping ensure information is appropriately classified and that classification requirements are consistently applied.
*** UK - remote based with occassional travel to Central Scotland.
This is a hands-on operational role rather than a new implementation or greenfield deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support the existing Fortra data classification environment.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve Fortra-related issues and incidents.
- Monitor the effectiveness and operation of existing classification controls.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to the existing configuration and processes.
- Support users and technical teams with data classification queries and issues.
- Undertake day-to-day data classification activities, ensuring information is appropriately classified according to organisational requirements.
- Review classification rules, policies and configurations and make appropriate adjustments where required.
- Investigate classification issues, including incorrect, missing or inconsistent classifications.
- Work with Information Security, IT and business stakeholders to resolve classification-related problems.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and operational procedures.
- Support testing and validation of changes to the existing environment.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of information protection and data classification processes.
- Help ensure the existing solution remains effective, reliable and aligned with business and security requirements.
Essential Experience
- SC Clearance or willing to undergo.
- Strong hands-on experience supporting Fortra or Titus/Boldon James in an enterprise environment.
- Experience managing and troubleshooting an existing Fortra deployment.
- Strong understanding of data classification and information protection.
- Practical experience investigating and resolving classification issues.
- Ability to work across both the technical Fortra environment and wider data-classification processes.
- Experience working with technical teams, security teams and business users.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable taking ownership of issues through to resolution.
Desirable
Experience with Titus, Boldon James, Microsoft information protection/DLP or similar classification technologies would be beneficial.
