Senior Network Engineer – NSX | Defence Sector

- We are looking for an experienced
Senior Network Engineer to support the delivery of secure, enterprise-scale infrastructure within a high-security defence environment.
This contract offers the opportunity to work on complex networking projects, helping to design, deploy and optimise software-defined networking solutions for mission-critical systems.
Working as part of a specialist technical team, you will take ownership of network design and implementation activities while providing technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer who enjoys solving complex networking challenges in highly secure environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and support VMware NSX-T networking solutions.
- Deliver software-defined networking (SDN) architectures across secure enterprise environments.
- Configure and troubleshoot complex network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers throughout project delivery.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, virtualisation and security teams to deliver integrated networking solutions.
- Maintain network security standards and contribute to continuous service improvements.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience with
VMware NSX-T or comparable network virtualisation technologies.
- Excellent understanding of enterprise networking, including
TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, Qo S and Cisco networking .
- Experience designing and supporting software-defined networking , micro-segmentation and secure network architectures.
- Knowledge of network security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS , monitoring tools and virtualised infrastructure.
- Proven experience working within complex, secure enterprise or defence environments.
- Ability to lead technical activities, mentor colleagues and take ownership of engineering deliverables.
Desirable Experience
- VMware NSX certification.
- Experience with
VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), v Sphere or v SAN .
- Infrastructure automation using
Ansible, Terraform or APIs .
- Networking experience across
AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
