Synergize Consulting are now hiring for a Software Design Engineer to work at a leading defence client on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team to design, develop, and deliver components of a digital imaging sub-system that will be integrated with highly innovative Machine Learning software.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to architect, build, and refine the digital imaging application and Machine Learning models.
  • Deliver a full-stack subsystem that includes LLD documentation and deployment configurations.
  • Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks.
  • Maintain unit testing plans and scripts.
  • Participate in peer reviews and security reviews.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed and recorded in the Jira management system.

Experience required:

  • A strong software engineering background that comprises development, design and configuration.
  • Excellent technical knowledge that includes DevOps and Machine Learning components.
  • The ability to design new software models that integrate with cutting-edge ML systems.
  • Strong OpenShift and Kubernetes containerisation skills.
  • Networking experience that includes working with Cilium.
  • MongoDB database management skills.
  • Usage of hardware acceleration tools such as those in the Nvidia suite.
  • Security and monitoring tools used such as SCOM or rsyslog.
  • The ability to analyse data sources, and a knowledge of VMS video systems would be desirable.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps principles would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in the transportation or defence sectors would be highly desirable.
  • Due to the nature of the client, it would be an advantage for candidates to hold, or be eligible and willing to undergo, a certain level of security clearance (SC).
