We're recruiting for an experienced SC Cleared Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join a major public sector programme, supporting the design, optimisation and resilience of critical AWS-hosted database platforms. This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong expertise across AWS database services, performance tuning and high availability.
Clearance required: BPSS + SC (It needs to be an active SC with a government agency used within the last 6 months)
Essential Skills
- Expert knowledge of AWS Aurora, Amazon RDS and PostgreSQL
- Strong database architecture, schema design and data modelling experience
- SQL optimisation, query tuning and execution plan analysis
- Performance tuning, indexing and database optimisation
- Backup, recovery, replication, failover and disaster recovery
- Troubleshooting complex production database environments
- Data reconciliation and data integrity validation
- AWS services including IAM, CloudWatch, KMS, VPC and Secrets Manager
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
- CI/CD experience
- Excellent stakeholder management and technical leadership skills
Desirable
- AWS Database Specialty or AWS Solutions Architect certification
