Overview
Operations Director at Synergize Consulting Ltd. Our client has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior or Principal Systems Engineer to carry out research into the next generation of airborne mesh networks.
This role will require a breadth of understanding of different network protocols and routing algorithms. You will consider the pros and cons of designing a network in different ways and study where the network protocols themselves need to be adapted to meet project requirements. You will be working with the client’s team, subcontractors and partners.

- Systems Engineering: Apply and develop your knowledge of systems engineering in a fast-paced team.
- Communications Expertise: Leverage subject-matter experts with extensive knowledge of communications systems, technology, performance, and operational capabilities.

What you’ll bring
- Good understanding of networking protocols, including the function of different protocols in the stack, alternatives, and rationale for design choices.
- Ability to design meaningful experiments and interpret results.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate ideas to varied audiences.
- Preferred or advantageous experience/knowledge in:
- Research to investigate novel networking algorithms
- Commonly used network simulation tools
- Software engineering techniques
- Wireless communications
Role activities
- Investigate different approaches for the design of airborne mesh networks.
- Specify networking simulations using third-party tools or a Leonardo-developed environment.
- Analyze simulation results and propose improvements to the design; assist in creating standardisation proposals.
