Job Description

Platform Applications Engineer (DV) - Contract - Hybrid working/Wiltshire - £competitive

Synergize Consulting are now hiring for a Platform Applications Engineer to work at a leading consultancy client, on a contract basis.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic engineering team, with a strong focus on platform applications, end-user computing and client-side services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, configure and maintain end-user platform applications and services.
  • Manage and maintain Windows 11 client environments, ensuring they are secure, stable and fit for purpose.
  • Use VMware Horizon to build, manage and maintain desktop images and virtual desktop environments.
  • Develop and maintain Windows desktop images, including application packaging, configuration and optimisation.
  • Manage endpoint configuration, policies and application deployment through Microsoft Intune.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory, including users, groups, computers, Group Policy and related services.
  • Support the deployment, configuration and life cycle management of end-user applications.
  • Investigate and resolve complex issues across the desktop and application platform.
  • Work with security teams to ensure endpoint and platform configurations meet required security standards.
  • Contribute to platform upgrades, technical improvements and life cycle management.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and configuration standards.
  • Work closely with infrastructure and application teams while maintaining a clear focus on the platform and end-user layer.

Experience required

  • Strong hands-on experience as a Platform Engineer, EUC Engineer, Desktop Engineer or similar.

• Strong experience with VMware Horizon, particularly

  • Desktop/application provisioning
  • Image creation and management
  • Golden/master images
  • Horizon troubleshooting
  • Desktop optimisation
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 client environments, with a particular focus on Windows 11.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Intune, including device configuration, compliance policies and application deployment.
  • Strong Active Directory experience, including Group Policy, user/computer administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with application deployment, packaging and configuration.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across the end-user computing and application stack.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Power Shell Scripting and automation skills would be desirable
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID would be desirable
  • Due to the nature of the client, it would be an advantage for candidates to hold, or be eligible and willing to undergo, a certain high level of security clearance (DV).
