Synergize Consulting are now hiring for a Cabling Engineer to work at a leading consultancy client of ours on a short-term contract basis. The successful candidate will provide a high level of support to the running of a large data centre and will ensure that services are fully operational and are protected and secure. This piece of work takes place across three sites in Berkshire, Hampshire and Wiltshire and is due to start in late June.

Responsibilities include:

  • Physical racking and installation of cables, and replacement of existing cables where required
  • Manage data centre capacity, including airflow and power analysis, and identifies and implements efficiency improvements where required
  • Labelling cables and networks where required
  • Conducting regular IT asset audits to uphold data accuracy and compliance
  • Validating technical designs to ensure safe housing and supportability
  • Providing general technical expertise to all parties operating within the data centre estate

Experience required:

  • Cabling and installation abilities, and the ability to connect and install cables at height or within a complex layout
  • A strong background in providing technical support within a Datacentre environment
  • Strong experience of installing and de-installing IT equipment in data centres
  • A good working knowledge of all aspects of IT infrastructure, including networks, storage and security
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems supporting data centres, such as generators, UPS, and cooling systems
  • Strong abilities with Datacentre cabling, installation, racking and network configuration
  • A good team player who can collaborate well with others to achieve successful delivery
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Due to the nature of the client, it would be an advantage for candidates to hold, or be eligible and willing to undergo, a certain level of security clearance (SC)
