We are recruiting for a Project Engineer to join a fast-paced FMCG/manufacturing environment, supporting engineering improvements, site performance, and capital project delivery. This is a hands-on, project-focused role where you will take ownership of engineering and site improvement projects from concept through to completion. You will be responsible for driving efficiency, improving reliability, reducing downtime, managing contractors, and supporting operational improvements across production, utilities, and wider site engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engineering and site improvement projects from concept to completion
  • Support CAPEX projects, including machinery installations, equipment upgrades, and process improvements
  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements across production, engineering, and utilities
  • Drive continuous improvement activity focused on downtime, waste, OEE, reliability, and operational performance
  • Manage contractors and external suppliers on site, ensuring work is carried out safely and in line with permit systems
  • Coordinate shutdown activities, installations, modifications, and upgrade works
  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, Hygiene, Technical, and wider site teams
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, progress, and key deliverables
  • Produce project documentation, technical reports, and support RAMS reviews
  • Support root cause analysis and long-term corrective actions
  • Assist with TPM, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and wider CI initiatives
  • Support energy reduction, utility improvements, and site reliability projects where required

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as a Project Engineer within FMCG, manufacturing, or a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong experience managing contractors, suppliers, and engineering project work
  • A good understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles
  • Experience delivering engineering improvements, equipment upgrades, or site-based projects
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work cross-functionally with different departments
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving ability
  • A commercially aware mindset with a focus on project delivery, safety, and operational results

Desirable Skills:

  • HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Engineering
  • Experience within food manufacturing, packaging, or FMCG environments
  • Knowledge of TPM, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement tools
  • Experience with utilities, process equipment, automation systems, or packaging machinery
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
  • Experience supporting projects such as production line upgrades, conveyor modifications, factory layout changes, energy reduction, boiler upgrades, and process optimisation
