We are looking for a Mechanical Bias Maintenance Engineer to join a busy engineering team within a heavy industrial recycling and production environment. This is a hands‑on role where you will be responsible for keeping production machinery running safely and efficiently, carrying out planned maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities:- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support across production machinery.
- Work on a range of mechanical equipment including shredders, conveyors, augers, motors, and heavy plant machinery.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults quickly and effectively to reduce downtime.
- Support routine checks, blade changes, safety checks, and general engineering tasks.
- Work closely with supervisors and the wider engineering team to keep production moving.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with site procedures.
- Contribute ideas and suggestions for machinery improvements and process efficiency.
- Support basic electrical maintenance where required, depending on experience.
- Strong mechanical engineering experience within a manufacturing, recycling, heavy plant, industrial, or similar production environment.
- A mechanical bias with a hands‑on approach to maintenance and repairs.
- Experience working on conveyors, augers, motors, shredders, or similar heavy machinery.
- The ability to diagnose faults and work calmly under pressure.
- A proactive, reliable, and flexible attitude.
- The confidence to work both independently and as part of a small engineering team.
- Basic electrical skills would be beneficial, although training can be provided.
- Previous experience in a heavy industrial or recycling environment.
