Our client is a global company with an impressive portfolio in the FMCG industry.

We are recruiting for an Electrical & Control Systems Engineer to join a fast‑paced manufacturing environment on a fixed night shift, Monday to Friday, 10pm–6am. This role will focus on maintaining, improving, and optimising electrical, automation, control systems, and industrial network systems across production and warehousing operations. The successful candidate will act as the front‑line technical support for control system issues, while also supporting continuous improvement projects and coaching the wider engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and optimise electrical, automation, control, and industrial network systems
  • Provide technical support for control system‑related issues across site equipment
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across factory assets
  • Support root cause analysis investigations and ensure follow‑up actions are completed
  • Identify training requirements for electrical and controls systems across shift teams
  • Manage software, programme back‑ups, and change logs to ensure they remain up to date
  • Identify obsolescence risks and support capital expenditure upgrade projects
  • Act as a subject‑matter expert for controls‑related equipment within project work
  • Install and maintain new systems in line with required site standards

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Apprentice‑trained background in electrical, controls, or automation engineering
  • C&G / NVQ Level 3 qualification in electrical or controls engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within controls systems engineering
  • Strong knowledge of control systems, automation, and electrical engineering within manufacturing equipment
  • Experience working with production lines, process equipment, warehousing, logistics, or distribution systems
  • Strong understanding of PLC control system architecture and field control devices
  • Good computer literacy, including MS Office and CMMS systems
  • Willingness to work a fixed Monday to Friday night shift

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience supporting capital projects from a controls perspective
  • Ability to coach and upskill engineering teams on controls diagnostics
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience identifying equipment obsolescence and supporting upgrade projects
