Job Role & Responsibilities
As a contract maintenance engineer, you will support continuous factory operations through effective reactive and planned maintenance. The role also plays a key part in driving site improvements relating to machinery performance, quality, hygiene, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out proactive and reactive maintenance across site equipment
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical breakdowns with urgency
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance to a high standard
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and equipment upgrades
- Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime
- Ensure compliance with current electrical and industrial regulations
- Apply RCA techniques to identify root causes and prevent reoccurrence
The Ideal Candidate will have
- Completed an engineering apprenticeship (Electrical & Mechanical)
- NVQ Level 3 or above / ONC / HNC in a relevant engineering discipline
- 18th Edition electrical qualification
- Strong hands-on electrical fault-finding and diagnostic experience
- Experience working in an FMCG or food manufacturing environment (preferred)
- Knowledge of UK and industrial electrical regulations
- PLC diagnostic experience (no programming required)
- A methodical, safety-focused approach to problem solving
