Are you a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer looking for a role that offers excellent work-life balance, job security, and genuine career development? Due to continued growth and investment, our client, a leading international provider of textile, hygiene and facility services, is looking to recruit a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their established engineering team in Merton. Working within a busy manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, reducing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement projects to maximise plant performance and reliability.

The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining production machinery and site equipment, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance activities to ensure maximum operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) on manufacturing machinery and site equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance and breakdown situations to minimise downtime.
  • Support machinery upgrades, installations and engineering projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability and performance.
  • Complete maintenance records and engineering documentation accurately.
  • Work closely with production teams to maximise machine availability and OEE.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety regulations and engineering standards.

Skills & Experience

  • Recognised Engineering Qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent).
  • Previous experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer within Manufacturing, FMCG, Production, Industrial, Processing, Laundry or Packaging environments.
  • Strong Electrical Maintenance and Mechanical Maintenance fault-finding skills.
  • Experience carrying out both Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and proactive approach to maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations.

Desirable Skills

  • Engineering Apprenticeship.
  • 18th Edition Qualification.
  • PLC Fault Finding experience.
  • Knowledge of Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Motors, Sensors and Inverters.
  • Continuous Improvement and Reliability Engineering experience.
