Synergem Recruitment is working with a successful and fast-paced service-based organisation in Leeds to recruit an experienced Payroller to join their established team. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys working in a busy environment, takes pride in delivering an accurate and efficient payroll service, and enjoys building strong relationships across the business.

The Role

  • Processing payroll accurately and ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time
  • Managing new starters, contractual amendments and leavers
  • Administering PAYE processes, issuing P45s and responding to payroll-related queries
  • Completing payroll calculations, including manual calculations where required
  • Processing statutory payments including SSP, SMP and SPP
  • Supporting year-end payroll procedures
  • Producing and distributing payslips within agreed timescales
  • Preparing pension documentation and supporting pension submissions
  • Reconciling pension control accounts
  • Investigating and resolving payroll queries, providing a high level of service to employees and stakeholders

About You

  • Previous payroll experience within a fast-paced or high-volume environment
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation and statutory payments
  • Good Excel and general systems skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with colleagues at all levels
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A positive, proactive approach and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service
