An established independent accountancy practice is looking to appoint a Head of Accounting Services to take ownership of a core function within the firm. This role sits at the point where delivery, leadership, and client ownership meet. The Role
  • Responsibility for a portfolio of non-audit clients, typically up to £10m turnover
  • Oversight of statutory accounts, management accounts, and associated advisory work
  • Leadership of a team of approximately 12, with accountability for structure, performance, and development
  • Ownership of the payroll function, ensuring compliance and consistent delivery
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, providing commercially focused support
  • Working closely with Partners on workflow, resourcing, and service standards
  • Input into operational and strategic decisions affecting the wider business services function
The Candidate
  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Strong background within general practice, ideally focused on business services
  • Track record of managing a client portfolio and reviewing work to a high standard
  • Experience leading and developing teams across multiple levels
  • Commercial awareness with the confidence to engage directly with SME clients
  • Exposure to payroll oversight would be beneficial
