Accountant in Castleford

Salary: £50,000 - 55,000

We are delighted to be working with a well-established and growing business in the search for an Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

You will provide hands-on financial support to a designated division, acting as a trusted partner to operational, commercial and senior leadership teams. You will deliver accurate, insightful reporting and forecasting that supports key business decisions.

Key responsibilities:

· Produce monthly management accounts and rolling forecasts to agreed deadlines

· Deliver clear variance and trend analysis to support operational and commercial decisions

· Lead the production of divisional budgets and forecasts

· Prepare and manage open-book contract budgets for client review

· Analyse workstream and project profitability, presenting recommendations to stakeholders

· Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations

· Support working capital and cash flow performance alongside Accounts Receivable

· Provide financial input to tenders, commercial proposals and new business opportunities

· Drive process improvements by getting more from finance systems and reporting

The successful candidate will have:

· A proven track record of producing accurate management accounts to tight deadlines

· A strong business partnering approach, with experience working alongside operational, commercial and senior teams

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong financial modelling and forecasting capability

· Advanced Excel skills and experience with finance/ERP systems

· A solid understanding of financial controls, budgeting and forecasting

· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions

· A positive, proactive and organised approach, able to manage multiple priorities and work independently
