We are delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established business who are looking to appoint an ambitious Assistant Accountant into a varied and commercially focused finance role.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career finance professional with experience within a manufacturing environment who is looking to develop their skills across cost accounting, financial analysis and business partnering.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and analysing standard costs and manufacturing variances across materials, labour and overheads
  • Supporting month-end close activities relating to manufacturing operations
  • Working closely with production and operational teams to understand financial performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Supporting inventory valuation and ensuring the accuracy of manufacturing costs
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Producing detailed variance analysis and providing insight into business performance
  • Partnering with operational and commercial stakeholders to support profitability improvements and cost optimisation initiatives
  • Supporting pricing, margin and profitability analysis
  • Producing accurate and timely financial reports for both internal and Group reporting purposes
  • Ensuring the integrity and consistency of financial information across systems and reports
  • Supporting improvements to financial reporting processes, controls and tools
  • Working closely with the wider finance team to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Supporting internal and external audit requirements

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Exposure to standard costing and variance analysis
  • A good understanding of cost accounting principles
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The confidence to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • A proactive approach with a genuine desire to learn and develop

A degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline would be beneficial.

Professional qualifications such as ACCA or CIMA are not essential, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within finance. Study support may be available for candidates wishing to pursue a professional qualification.
